The seniority point does not guarantee the job. The most qualified applicant will get the teaching position. The seniority point is only tiebreaker meaning that the more senior applicant will get the job if (s)he is rated within 7% of the other applicant.

Unit 2 Contract Lecturers earn one (1) seniority point each semester they hold a Unit 2 appointment, except during the first three semesters in which they first hold the first three Unit 2 appointments. Once they have successfully completed three semesters of Unit 2 appointments, they will begin to accrue seniority points.

You cannot access such personal information due to privacy issues. Your unit-specific Chief Steward has access to applicants ranking and rating information and may provide you with relevant information.

Unit 2 Contract Lecturers lose their seniority points if they do not hold a Unit 2 contract for over two academic years. In such a case, the CECL shall carry forward no seniority points upon any application afterward. 

CUPE Local 3904’s Unit 2 Bargaining Committee fought hard against management to increase the Health Benefit Fund. Currently, $95,000 is available annually to be distributed among Unit 2 members reimbursing their health benefit related expenses.

Unit 2 members are are entitled to receive up to $300 once per academic year.

Continuing Education Lecturers are invited to apply for the Unit 2 Professional Expense Reimbursement Fund (PERF) during the semester in which they hold at least one course appointment. A maximum number of awards of $250.00 will be awarded in each of the three semesters: Fall, Spring/Summer and Winter. Funds will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis.
