Unit 3

Academic Assistants

How do I find out how many seniority points I have?

The department/school(s) where you hold a Unit 1 appointment(s) keeps track of the seniority points for all CUPE 3904 Unit 1 members who teach in that department/school. In Unit 1, seniority points are department/school specific, but not course specific. The seniority list for each department/school is required, under the new Collective Agreement, to be made public on the job postings for each semester.

When are TA/GA positions posted?

Decisions about how many GA/TA positions will be offered and the hours of these jobs are not identified by the different departments until prior to the beginning of the term or during the first week of the term. The union encourages Unit 3 members to keep checking the different departmental postings at least once a week for ten (10) weeks leading up to classes commencing once classes begin each semester and several weeks subsequent to classes beginning.
